How to make coasters with lace paper

Do you have all the materials on hand? This will become quite important when you start making your own cute coasters, because you don’t want to run around looking for things you forgot to get.

The first step: paint the coaster

The first thing we need to do is to color the cup mat. So, take the cork coaster, your paintbrush and green paint. Dip your paintbrush and start covering the cork coaster with color.

Make sure your coaster is painted on all sides. In addition, you need to carefully apply the color to the edge of the coaster and press the paint into the rough cracks. When you are done, let the roller coaster dry.

Step 2: Add lace details

Next, you will get the paper doily and place it on the painted roller coaster. Also, get a paintbrush and white acrylic paint.

When you place the lace paper doily on the coaster, start painting on the material. Make sure to keep the paper stable and still. If it moves, you will get a messy design, which we are trying to avoid.

Paint all the spaces white. Because this is a piece of lace paper, you can paint on the whole thing, as long as you make sure not to move it.

Bypass the coaster and make sure to paint all areas inside the doily to create a beautiful lace pattern.

Slowly remove the lace paper, if it gets stuck in any area, make sure not to break it.

Step 3: Draw the edge of the coaster

Now that the lace pattern is finished on the coaster, we can continue to decorate the whole thing. Get a thin paintbrush and white paint, and start to draw some small lines on the edges. Try to draw them at similar distances.

Go around the entire coaster and add more lines to the design. If measuring things with your eyes is not your business, or you want things to be symmetrical, you can use something to help you.

Whether you use a pencil tip, ruler or other things to measure it, we believe it will work well.

Step 4: Add beads

Finally, we will further decorate the roller coaster. We think that many things will look better if they have a little sparkle, so adding some decorative beads to this coaster will be very useful.

So, get a glue gun and decorative beads, and apply some hot glue on the back of one.

Start applying decorative beads to the coaster. We choose to place them according to the design of the doily. As you can see, ours has flower patterns, so if you want, we added decorative beads in the space between the petals.

Every time you add beads, make sure to press them in a little bit so that the hot glue sticks to the surface. Also, since you will apply some pressure here, make sure not to add too much hot glue because you don't want it to overflow.

Go ahead! You now have some very cute coasters with lace paper, some of which you want to go out every time you have a visitor. You will even want to use them when you are alone!
